 Ellis Island

Ellis Island was the first stop for many our ancestors.  Terri will share her research and discusses her trip to Ellis Island. Student Activity: students will make a list of items that they would pack for their trip to America.

 

 Orphan Train

The trains rolled out of New York, heading west to find new homes for thousands of children. Terri Shares stories and photos about the orphan train riders many of who were sent to the Midwest. Student Activity: Class discussion about how it would feel to travel west alone.

 

 Journal Your Life Into History

            By the end of this session students will have started an entry and confident about writing their everyday events into history. Student Activity: Each student will have a small notebook to start their journaling in. Ideas for jump starting their journals given and we’ll do one entry while we’re all together. There should be time for sharing if any one wants.

 

 B Is For Birds and Bugs

            In an enthralling show and tell session, Terri brings to life A To Z Bugs and A To Z Birds discussing her research and how she chose material for her book. Student Activity: Students will each draw their favorite bug or bird from the books.

 J Is For Japan

            Terri will share the process J Is For Japan went through before becoming a book.  She will bring examples of items included in the ABCs of Japan.
